Pasefika Roots Institute of Language & Cultural Arts is a community-centered cultural and educational organization dedicated to preserving, teaching, and strengthening Pacific Island languages, traditions, cultural arts, identity, and intergenerational knowledge.

Our work is rooted in the belief that language and culture are not simply subjects to be studied. They are living connections to family, identity, history, community, and future generations.

Through language instruction, cultural arts, music and movement, youth enrichment, leadership development, family engagement, volunteer instruction, and community partnerships, we create opportunities for Pacific Island children, families, and communities to learn, connect, and carry knowledge forward.

Our mission is to preserve and advance Pacific Island languages, cultural arts, traditions, and community knowledge through education, intergenerational learning, and meaningful community engagement.

We work to ensure that young people have opportunities to know who they are, where they come from, and how their identity can strengthen their education, leadership, and connection to community.

Education Through Culture

We believe cultural learning can strengthen more than cultural knowledge.

Our programs are designed to support student engagement, belonging, confidence, communication, leadership, literacy, teamwork, and connection to school and community.

Through our partnership with the Anchorage School District School Business Partnerships, we are building school-based opportunities that complement existing educational supports while introducing students to Pacific Island language, culture, music, movement, storytelling, and leadership.
